Shearman & Sterling advised Mubadala Capital, the financial investment arm of Mubadala Investment Company, a sovereign investor owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi, in connection with the establishment of an evergreen origination platform with Barings, one of the world’s leading financial services firms. The platform, Barings Mubadala Enterprise (BME), will seek to provide financing solutions to European middle-market businesses.

BME and its capital partners aim to provide $3.5 billion in financing over the next 18 months to help meet growing corporate demand for flexible capital solutions in Europe. Mubadala Capital will invest in the platform alongside MassMutual and Barings’ capital.
