Shearman & Sterling Named Among Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality for 12th Year in a Row

Shearman & Sterling today announced it has earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a U.S. national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices pertinent to LGBTQ workplace equality administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, for the 12th consecutive year.

“While we recognize that there is still much progress to be made, we are proud to be a firm that continues to evolve and expand our policies and programs to affirm and empower all of our employees globally,” said Sandra Bang, Chief Diversity and Talent Strategy Officer at Shearman & Sterling. “We are committed to advancing a culture of inclusion and firmly believe that our diverse body of talent contributes to the depth and breadth of insights and excellence that our clients need to succeed.”

The 2021 CEI rated over 1,000 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Shearman & Sterling’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and its designation as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”
