The mortgage loan participation market has never been healthier. While conventional wisdom would suggest that most mortgage loans are being sold to the commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) Market, a surprisingly large number of loans are being held for syndication, and many of those syndications are being affected via participations rather than assignments.
