Shearman & Sterling partner Douglas McFadyen (New York-Tax) and associate Monica Lamb (New York-Project Development & Finance) co-authored an article, “New Horizons In Solar Financing,” published by Law360 on May 15.

In their article, the authors observe that an increasing number of investors in solar energy-generating assets are moving beyond the traditional financing options in an effort to grow and pursue attractive opportunities. New models of solar power financing—such as public market equity offerings of de-risked project portfolios, securitized consumer loan and lease obligations, solar project bond offerings and crowdfunding—are becoming ever more popular as sponsors seek to achieve a competitive advantage.
