The first edition of Shearman & Sterling’s Energy & Infrastructure Insight provides information and analysis of current issues and projects across the globe.
In this edition, we offer insights into how Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are starting to diversify their energy mixes away from hydrocarbon-dependent technologies and looking to waste to energy (WtE) projects to provide a solution. We also consider the high-level market drivers, opportunities and challenges of developing unconventional oil and gas projects. In Europe, we look at whether Cibuk 1, a 158 MW onshore windfarm, could be a template deal for future wind farm development in Serbia and the possible effect of the U.K. energy white paper on the current nuclear new build program.
