Shearman And Sterling

Shearman & Sterling’s Financial Restructuring & Insolvency practice represents stakeholders across the full spectrum of restructuring matters.

Our global team has a wealth of experience advising on complex domestic and cross-border restructurings, including some of the most high-profile transactions of recent years. We combine a commercial approach with technical expertise and work in partnership with our clients to navigate the legal, political and business landscapes in which they operate. We work closely with other practice groups, leveraging expertise across products, sectors and industries to provide innovative and effective advice.

Our clients include all stakeholders across the capital structure, including companies, sponsors, lenders (including agents, syndicated bank groups, ad hoc lender groups and direct lenders), noteholders (whether individually or as part of ad hoc groups) and other creditors.
We have particularly extensive experience in restructuring high yield bonds, leveraged loans, derivatives and structured products, and we use that expertise to create and deliver practical solutions to the issues that our clients face in distressed scenarios, utilizing the latest in restructuring tools and techniques. In addition, we also have expertise in sovereign and sub-sovereign restructurings, financial institution restructurings and formal insolvency proceedings (including acting for insolvency officeholders).

Our aim is to achieve positive outcomes and preserve value for our clients.
