Shearman & Sterling Receives 'Equity and Projects & Energy Deals of the Year' at China Law & Practice Awards

Shearman & Sterling received "Equity and Projects & Energy Deals of the Year" awards for the firm’s work on two high-profile China-related transactions at the China Law & Practice Awards. The awards identify the biggest and most important commercial legal matters and honor the best work in the PRC.

The following capital markets and project finance transactions received the “Deal of the Year” recognition:

  • Equity Deal of the Year: WuXi Biologics’ Hong Kong IPO. Advised Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and China Merchant Securities as underwriters on WuXi Biologics’ US$510 million Hong Kong IPO. The successful listing marked the first global biologics service provider to list in Hong Kong and the second Chinese company to relist in Hong Kong after going private in the U.S.
  • Projects & Energy Deal of the Year: Karot Hydropower Plant.Advised The Export-Import Bank of China, China Development Bank, Silk Road Fund and International Finance Corporation on the development and financing of the US$1.69 billion 720 MW Karot hydropower plant in Pakistan. This project represented the largest outbound greenfield investment by China Three Gorges Corporation and was the first outbound financing project by Silk Road Fund.
