Shearman & Sterling Welcomes Private Equity Counsel Gabriel Salinas

Global law firm Shearman & Sterling is pleased to announce that Gabriel Salinas is joining the firm as counsel in the firm’s Private Equity practice and Latin America Practice Group, based in Houston.

Gabriel has an extensive background advising on cross-border private equity deals and a strong reputation within the renewable and conventional energy and infrastructure industries, particularly for cross-border M&A and infrastructure projects.

Commenting on Gabriel’s arrival at the firm, partner Sarah McLean, who leads Shearman & Sterling’s Private Equity group, said: “Gabriel possesses thorough experience working with sponsors in all facets of private equity transactions within the energy and infrastructure spaces. His addition will help expand our private equity-related offerings and bolster our already high-calibre service to clients.”

Prior to joining Shearman & Sterling, he was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Avant Energy, a Riverstone Holdings portfolio company, developing renewable and conventional power, infrastructure and midstream projects.

Gabriel earned his LL.M. in 2008 from Harvard Law School. He also holds a J.D., summa cum laude, from Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey.
