Shearman & Sterling advised Intek Group (Intek) and its subsidiary KME SE (KME) on the acquisition of parts of Arubis’ flat rolled products (FRP) business, a leading global provider of non-ferrous metals and major copper recycler.

KME is one of the world's largest manufacturers of copper and copper alloy products and has a worldwide distribution network. The acquisition includes the purchase of Aurubis’ FRP plant in Zutphen (Netherlands), as well as the slitting centers in Birmingham (United Kingdom), Dolný Kubín (Slovakia), and Mortara (Italy), with a total turnover of about Euro 280 million and about 360 employees. The transaction is part of the group’s strategy to further expand the FRP business.
