Shearman & Sterling partner Clare O’Brien (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions) has been named to The Deal’s Top Women in Dealmaking 2022 List for her work in Mergers & Acquisitions. This marks the second consecutive year she has been honored with this distinction.

The Deal’s Top Women in Dealmaking are selected for displaying excellence in their respective legal fields including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructuring and activist investing. The lawyers are defined not only by their transactional capabilities, but also by their contributions to mentorship, thought leadership, and the advancement of gender diversity.

Over the last 18 months, among other transactions, Clare advised Ardagh Group SA in the listing of its metal beverage packaging business on the NYSE through its business combination with Gores Holdings V, a special purpose acquisition company, for an enterprise value of approximately $8.2 billion; Boston Scientific Corporation in its $800 million divestiture of its BTG Specialty Pharmaceuticals Business to Stark International Lux S.à r.l. and SERB SAS, and its acquisition of Baylis Medical Company Inc. for a purchase price of $1.75 billion; Mubadala Investment Company in various matters, including in connection with the recent expansion of its global partnership with Apollo Global Management; and Artius Acquisition Inc., a special purpose acquisition company, in various matters.
