Shearman & Sterling once again ranked well in The American Lawyer’s 2022 annual issue highlighting pro bono performance. The firm ranked No. 3 for its breadth of commitment, remaining in the top five for the past five years. The breadth of commitment is measured by the percentage of U.S.-based lawyers who performed 20 or more hours of pro bono work in 2021. The firm ranked No. 12 in the United States national category and No. 19 in the international category.  The overall rankings include the top 100 law firms for each category and are calculated by measuring the percentage of lawyers performing 20 or more hours of pro bono and the average number of pro bono hours lawyer in 2021.
