John Gueli, a partner in the firm’s Litigation practice, has over two decades of experience in corporate and commercial litigation and has represented and advised clients on a wide variety of matters.  His practice has a particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, securities litigation, accountants’ liability, and intellectual property. Prior to joining Shearman & Sterling, Mr. Gueli was a judicial clerk for the Hon. Richard J. Cardamone of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  Mr. Gueli worked in the firm’s Los Angeles office from 1993 through 1998 and was elected partner in 2001.

• Spencer Trask Intellectual Capital in litigation asserting theft of trade secrets related to Spencer Trask’s en masse hiring of engineers and funding of a start-up venture in the photonics field
