Shearman & Sterling Project Development & Finance partner Augusto Ruiloba participated as a speaker and panelist for the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) webinar “Unlocking Coal Power Purchase Agreements” on Tuesday, October 31.

The webinar highlighted the challenges and opportunities for transitioning existing coal power purchase agreements (PPAs) to renewable energy generation PPAs as part of the coal-to-clean energy transition. Augusto then participated in the panel moderated by clean energy finance experts Juan Vial and Tyeler Matsuo. The panel also included Arthur Simatupang – Chairman of the Indonesian Independent Power Producers Association (APLSI), Alan Levy – Managing Director of Global Sustainable Finance at Bank of America, Felipe Alberto Corral – Advisor of Policies/Colombia Ministry of Mining and Energy, and Julia Skorupska – Head of Secretariat, Powering Past Coal Alliance and thus brought together perspectives from different geographies and PPA stakeholders, including independent power producers, financial institutions, and electricity regulators.
