  • Lamu Power Plant, Kenya | ICBC, Bank of China, Sinosure, Standard Bank, AfDB and other commercial lenders and ECAs in connection with the 930 MW coal-fired power plant in Lamu county, Kenya
  • Angola LNG, Angola | Angola LNG on a $1.8 billion financing to fund the upgrade of the project in 2016. This transaction was awarded ‘Africa Oil & Gas Deal of the Year’ by the IJ Global Awards in 2017
  • Zambia Solar PV Project, Zambia | Standard Microgrid in relation to the development and financing of containerized solar PV/battery power generation units in Zambia through a local special-purpose vehicle
  • Fortuna LNG, Equatorial Guinea | ONE LNG on the development of the Fortuna floating liquefaction project in Equatorial Guinea, developed in conjunction with Ophir Energy and GEPetrol
  • Guinea Alumina Project, Republic of Guinea | Guinea Alumina Corporation (a joint venture between Mubadala Development Company and Dubai Aluminium) on the development of a $1.5 billion bauxite mine, alumina refinery and related infrastructure in the Republic of Guinea
  • Songo Songo, Tanzania International Finance Corporation | on a financing of the expansion of the Songo Songo gas field off the coast of Tanzania
    Dorper Wind Farm, South Africa | The consortium, led by Sumitomo and Rainmaker, selected as preferred bidder by the South African Department of Energy for the development of the €140 million, 100 MW Dorper wind farm in South Africa. One of South Africa’s first wind farm projects to achieve financial close

  • Energy and investor-State arbitrations, Egypt | Egyptian state-owned companies Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), as well as the Arab Republic of Egypt, in four arbitrations arising from the termination of a gas supply agreement relating to the export of Egyptian gas to Israel. Over US$8 billion at stake
  • Construction arbitration, Regional | An African energy company in an ICC arbitration in Geneva brought by a European energy company and its African subsidiary. Dispute arising from an EPC contract for the construction of gas liquefaction facilities. Over €1.5 billion at stake

  • South Africa Solar Project, South Africa | China Africa Development Fund on the acquisition of equity interest in a solar power project in South Africa
  • Sibanya Gold Offering, South Africa | The underwriters, including Citigroup, HSBC, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Rand Merchant Bank, as joint global coordinators on the $1 billion rights offering by Sibanye Gold Limited. This is the third-largest rights issue ever by a South African company and the largest-ever acquisition-related capital raise in South Africa
  • Edcon Restructuring, Regional | Absa/Barclays, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan in the debt restructuring of the Edcon group. The transaction was awarded ‘Global Finance Deal of the Year: Insolvency and Restructuring (Africa)’ by the American Lawyer Awards 2017
